As home to 44 residents and with a good staff-to-resident ratio we’re able to ensure the personal attention that makes all the difference in the care we deliver. We maximize residents’ independence, preserve each resident’s dignity and provide excellent care. Each resident has an individualized care plan to ensure the best possible quality-of life.
Skilled Nursing Care
We provide 24-hour skilled and acute nursing care. Our nursing staff is available around-the-clock to manage care of patients with chronic and acute conditions. Wound care, pain management, total parenteral nutrition (tube feeding), swallowing therapy, and post-surgical care are included.
Rehabilitation
Patients who are recovering from surgery or a medical event such as a stroke receive comprehensive therapy to return them to their highest level of health and activity. Our staff care team have extensive training offering the following programs:
- Physical Therapy
- Occupational Therapy
- Speech Therapy (includes swallowing therapy)
- Post-operative Orthopedic Care
- Post-Stroke, Self-Care Training
- Post-Cardiac Care
- Restorative Nursing Care
- Home evaluation/Transition Team
Respite Care
Respite Care provides a temporary break for caregivers offering a short-term stay for individuals in a community that can meet their needs. This respite is also a nice break for the resident, as they get to experience different activities in a safe, caring environment.
Hospice/Palliative Care
Hospice and palliative care emphasizes comfort care through pain management and emotional support of the patient and family. Highland staff coordinates hospice services with Whatcom Hospice for care at the end-of-life.
Resident Services and Amenities
These services strengthen residents’ quality-of-life with special events, programs and activities, beauty and barber shop, holiday programs and events. We also organize transportation to medical appointments, billing help, social service assistance, laundry services and access to wireless Internet.
Ancillary Support and Services
These services are all coordinated for the convenience of residents and their families. These include pharmacy services, respiratory therapy, eye, foot and dental services; laboratory and x-ray services.
